MAKING A DIFFERENCE

THE NUMBERS ARE ENCOURAGING BUT WE STILL HAVE WORK TO DO

Awareness and early detection are critical factors in preserving the lives of our loved ones. In the United States, there will be more than 330,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in the coming year. The earlier the disease is detected the better the chances of survival. Survival rates now top 90% and the mortality rate has been declining for years, mostly due to increased awareness, better screening and community outreach programs like those of the BCAO. But we still need your help. Minority, immigrant and economically disadvantaged groups continue to experience greater levels of risk and poorer outcomes. With your support, we can make a difference, right here in our own communities.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

I was initially invited by a Girl Scout friend who knew I was a survivor. After the first time attending I was hooked and became a hostess and eventually joined the committee. This is my passion and it is one way I feel I can make a difference.
